Rouven Lattner

`

Rouven is a Ph.D. student and research assistant in the discipline of statistics within the ADAPT Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin. He graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an M.Sc. in Statistical Ecology (2021 – 2022), an interdisciplinary programme, focusing on the foundation and application of modern ecological modeling techniques. He further attended Ulm University where he did an M.Sc. in Computer Science with specialization in neural information processing and he completed his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at HTWG Konstanz. He is generally interested in combining the fields of statistics and data science with topics related to ecology and sustainability.

Rouven is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral network and project LegumeLegacy within the research group of Prof. Caroline Brophy. The main part of his Ph.D. work is to study the role of increasing species diversity in grassland leys within crop rotations. One key component of the project will be to develop statistical modelling approaches to investigate if increasing species diversity can help reducing weed invasion and to assess the impact of invasion levels across a crop rotation. The insights arising from this investigation will directly contribute to one of the main objectives of LegumeLegacy: The search and development of solutions for lower nitrogen farming systems that will promote sustainable farming practices.

Project Title
